I’ve mentioned this to the many folks who have emailed asking where the latest updates to the Family Worship Guide are, but I’ll post some information here for those who may still be stumbling by.

As of May of this year, I am no longer serving as a worship pastor. Without going into all the details, that decision was not mine. There have been no moral or ethical failures on my part; the leadership of the church I was serving simply decided I no longer served their needs. It is possible I could return to that role in another church in the future, but for now, I’m focused on providing for my family in any way I can.

Because of my focus on other things that help me provide for my family, and because the Family Worship Guide is not a money-making venture, I have had to put it aside. I considered handing the site off to other institutions or perhaps selling the site. So far, I have decided not to do that, hoping that I will be able to revive it in the future.

There have been those who suggested that I monetize the Family Worship Guide. That’s always been a possibility, but, like the other ideas for the disposition of the site, I have resisted that for several reasons. Firstly, it is difficult to take something that has been offered for free and suddenly charge for it. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been done many times, but it’s difficult. And it makes people mad. Secondly, because I feel so strongly that family worship should be a part of family life, I want to try to provide resources that remove hurdles, not put up new ones.

So, with all of that said, I hope to return to publishing the Family Worship Guide as soon as possible. But I don’t know when that will be. Thank you for your patience.
